JOHN E. GERLACH

John E. Gerlach, age 85, of Olmsted Twp., passed away Thursday, March 13, 2008, at EMH Regional Medical Center, Elyria, following a short illness.Born in Chicago, Ill., was a resident of Olmsted Twp. for nine years.

He previously lived in Gold Bar, Washington and Seattle.

He served in the US Navy during WWII in the Asiatic-pacific Theater receiving nine bronze stars and the Philippine Liberation he received one bronze star. He also received a Presidential Citation.

Mr. Gerlach worked as a truck driver for the University of Washington for 20 years, retiring in 1982.

Survivors include his daughter, Laurie (Thomas) Carpenter of North Ridgeville; a niece and nephew and several great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Betty in 1999; sisters, Ann Kuehl, Ruth McGolerick and parents Victor and Hedvig Gerlach.

Friends may call from 2-4PM Sunday at the David Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville. Services will be held at 11:00AM on Monday in the funeral home. Rev. Chuck Behrens, will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Westlake where Post 9871, North Ridgeville will conduct full military honors.

STEPHANIE SINCLAIR

Stephanie Sinclair, age 26, of Westlake, a beloved daughter, sister and friend went home to be with the Lord Tuesday night after a lifelong battle with muscular dystrophy. Though weak in body she was strong in spirit with a smile that touched the hearts of everyone she met. Her face glowed with the love of Jesus and her eyes sparkled with a warmth we will cherish forever. Stephanie lived an exciting life.

She spent much of her childhood in Hawaii and served as an MDA goodwill ambassador for two years. Stephanie spent the last four years here in Ohio where she was an active member of Northridge Christian Life Church and continued to share her faith. The way she lived her life was an inspiration to us all. God bless you Steph and well done. We'll miss you.

Survivors include her parents, Dennis and Judith (nee Gordon) of Avon; brothers, Brian of Elyria, Kevin (Karen) of Canonsburg, PA; nephew, Ryan; maternal grandmother, Joan Gordon of Beaver, PA and paternal grandfather, Alvin Sinclair of Beaver, PA.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Donald Gordon and paternal grandmother, Veva Sinclair.

A Memorial Service will be held 2:00PM Saturday at Northridge Christian Life Church, 8877 Avon Belden Rd., North Ridgeville, OH 44039. Rev. William Falk, pastor, will officiate.

Donations may be made in Stephanie's memory to Northridge Christian Life Church.

MARGARET L. ATKINSON

Margaret L. Atkinson (nee Edwards), age 76 of Eaton Township died Saturday, March 8, 2008 at EMH Regional Medical Center following a long illness.

She was born July 18, 1931 in Nancy, KY and grew up in Somerset, KY. She had resided in Eaton twp the past two years having moved back from Dayton, TN.

She previously lived in N. Ridgeville for 27 years.

Mrs. Atkinson had worked as an inspector for Palm Beach Men’s Clothing in Somerset in the 1950's, she then went to work with her brother in law at Atkinson Greenhouse in N. Ridgeville in the 1960's then after its’ closing went to work at Thibo’s Greenhouse where she worked until the late 1980's.

Mrs. Atkinson was a loving woman with many talents. She was a waitress, seamstress, Cub Scout den mother and was actively involved with the Cheryl’s Drum and Baton Corps, volunteering many hours for fund raising and sewing the corps uniforms. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, sewing clothes and dolls for her grandchildren, carpentry, woodworking, quilting, ceramics and other crafts.

Surviving are her husband of 50 years John “JC”, daughters, Cathy Rogers of Birmingham, Cindy Rogers-Carter of Nicholasville, KY, Debbie (Clay) Pinter of Elyria; Son, Stephen Atkinson of N. Ridgeville; Grandchildren, Dana, Matthew and Debbie of Kentucky and Danielle, Dana and Lisa of Elyria, four great grandchildren, Brothers, Jim of Somerset, Robert of Lexington, KY, Maurice "Bud" and Kenny Edwards both of Somerset; Sisters, Doris Hearld of Science Hill, KY, Kathleen Rogers of Florence, KY, Lona Marie Beattie of Somerset and Sue Tarter of Nancy, KY; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by Parents John and Maggie Edwards, sister Elizabeth Finks and brother Bill Edwards.

Friends will be received 6-8 PM Tuesday, March 11 at the David Bogner Family Funeral Home 36625 Center Ridge Rd, N. Ridgeville where services will be held 11 AM Wednesday. Interment will follow in the Butternut Ridge Cemetery, Eaton Twp.

REV. PAUL R. OBERHAUS

Rev. Paul R. Oberhaus, age 66 of North Ridgeville, died suddenly Friday, March 7, 2008 at St. John West Shore Hospital Westlake.

He was born September 18, 1941 in Holgate, Ohio where he resided until moving to North Ridgeville in 1994.

He received his Bachelors Degree in Education and his Masters Degree in Chemistry from Bowling Green University and was a graduated from Concordia Theological Seminary in Ft. Wayne Indiana in 1995.
Rev. Oberhaus has been serving as Pastor of Shepherd of the Ridge Lutheran Church since 1995, prior to that he taught Chemistry, Physics, Math and Drivers Ed for Deshler and Patrick Henry High School in Hamler, Ohio from 1963-1994. He organized the Science Fairs for the High School and the regional finals at Defiance College. He also taught General Chemistry at Defiance College for 7 years in the 1970's. For most of his life he was active with the Lutheran Layman’s League, where he was currently serving as Pastoral Advisor of the Ohio District.

Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Sharon K. Oberhaus (nee Carr) 2 Sons, Brian (Michelle) Oberhaus of Defiance, Phillip (Kathy) Oberhaus of Elyria; 2 daughters, Angela (Tom) Chester of Kentwood, OH, Susan (Mike) Jackemeyer of Buchanan, MI, five grandchildren; Mother, Lorena M. Oberhaus of Holgate, 4 brothers, Harold of Bowling Green, Luther of Louisville, KY, Jim of Columbus Grove, OH, Jerry Oberhaus of Holgate, OH.

He was preceded in death by his Father, Raymond G. Oberhaus.

Friends will be received 2-4 and 7-9, Monday, March 10, at David Bogner Family Funeral Home 36625 Center Ridge Road North Ridgeville and Tuesday from 10 AM until time of services at 11 AM at Shepherd of the Ridge Lutheran Church, North Ridgeville.

Friends may also call Wednesday from 4- 8 PM at Zachrich Funeral Home in Holgate and Thursday from 10 AM until time of services at 11 AM at St. John Lutheran Church in Holgate. Burial will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Holgate.

MARGARET D. TREADWELL

Margaret D. Treadwell (nee Kollar), age 82, of North Ridgeville, passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2008, at St. Mary of the Woods, Avon.

She was born in Cleveland and had been a resident of North Ridgeville since 1977.Mrs. Treadwell was a member of St. Julie Catholic Billiart Church, North Ridgeville.

She enjoyed baking and sewing.Survivors include her brother in law, Albert Aron and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, N. James Treadwell in 1995; sister, Irene Aron in 2007 and parents, Joseph and Susan Kollar.

Friends may call Sunday from 2-5PM at the David Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, N. Ridgeville where a prayer service will be held on Monday at 9:30AM.

A 10:00AM Mass will follow at St. Julie Billiart Church, 5500 Lear Nagle Rd., N. Ridgeville. Rev. Dr. Richard Gonser, Pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in Ridgeville Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be made to St. Julie’s Church.
