DONALD R. WELLS

Donald R. Wells age 77, of North Ridgeville, passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at his home following a short illness.

Born in Cleveland he had been a resident of North Ridgeville for the past 10 years moving from Findlay where he lived for 33 years. Mr. Wells served in the US Navy during the Korean War. Donald earned a bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from Fenn College, now known as Cleveland State. He worked as a mechanical engineer for Dow Chemical in Findlay for over 25 years, retiring in 1986. He then continued to work as a consultant.He was a member of Fields United Methodist Church, N. Ridgeville, Hancock Handlebar Club, Hancock County Naturalist Club, Findlay Sertoma Club and volunteered with the Boy Scouts in Findlay and the Great Lakes Science Center in Cleveland. He was also active with the Building Committee of Wildflower Homeowner’s Association. He enjoyed woodworking, bicycling, collecting trains.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Betty (nee Coffelt); son, Thomas (Sharron) of Kenton; granddaughter, Amy (Mike) Kovalsky, great-grandchildren, Aidan and Nathan Kovalsky all of N. Ridgeville; sister, Margaret (George) Nagy of Sugarcreek and brother, Arthur (Mary) Wells of Elyria.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Laverne Wells.

Friends may call Thursday from 4-7 PM at the David Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, N. Ridgeville.

Services will be held on Friday at 1:00 PM in the funeral home. Jeff Sweitzer, Spiritual Coordinator for Hospice of the Western Reserve, will officiate.

ADAM BROWNFIELD

Adam Brownfield, age 27 of Cleveland, formerly of Sheffield Lake, died Sunday, April 27, 2008 following injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Adam was a 1999 graduate of the Open Door Christian School, Elyria, and had received further education at Lorain County Community College. He was currently in the process of studying podiatry. He was an avid runner who was training daily to become a triathalon competitor. Adam also had a great interest and knowledge of reptiles and owned many. He was the oldest of three siblings, and excelled at his role as a big brother. He had just recently enrolled to become a big brother in the Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Greater Cleveland Program.

Surviving is his mother, Tami Remick (nee Martinez) and her husband, Robert, of Elyria; father, Harry Brownfield, Jr. and his wife, Mary, of Avon; two sisters, Halli Brownfield, of Cleveland and Emily Brownfield, of Elyria; a stepbrother and stepsister, Brian and Stephanie Carlson, both of Avon; maternal grandfather, Fernando Martinez, of Elyria and paternal grandfather, Harry Brownfield, Sr., of Olmsted Falls.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Shirley Martinez, paternal grandmother, Ruth Brownfield; paternal step-grandmother, Minnie Brownfield and an uncle, Jay Martinez.

Visitations will be from 6-9PM Wednesday at the David Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., North Ridgeville where services will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday. Rev. Jim Bzdafka, pastor of Providence Evangelical Free Church, Avon will officiate.

NOLA MAE BROWN

Nola Mae Brown (nee Simmons), age 83, of Eaton Twp., passed away Monday, April 28, 2008 at EMH Regional Medical Center, Elyria, following a long illness.

Born in Woodbury, Tennessee she lived most of her life in Elyria and Eaton Twp. She was a member of East Broad Street Church of Christ, Elyria.Nola enjoyed crafts, sewing, oil painting, tule painting, bird watching, flower gardening and spending time with her nieces and nephews.

Survivors include brothers, Howard (Eileen) Simmons of Eaton Twp., Horace Simmons of Manchester, TN, Charlie Simmons of Atlanta, Georgia; sisters, Grace Carter of Manchester, TN, Ordway Gaither of Georgia; sister-in-law, Frances Brown of N. Ridgeville; nieces Lisa Standen, Theresa Smith, Darlene Wray, Sheila Simmons; nephews, Greg Brown, Howard Simmons, Russell Simmons, Douglas Simmons and many great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by husband, James Ralph Brown, March 25 of this year and parents, Eula and Ethel Simmons.

RUSSELL A. WALKER

Russell A. Walker, age 66, of North Ridgeville, passed away suddenly Monday, April 7, 2008.

He was born in Cleveland and had been a resident of North Ridgeville since 1985 moving from Cleveland. Mr. Walker worked as a machine operator for General Motors Parma Plant retiring in 2004 after 41years.

He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church where he was active with the Holy Name Society, St.Vincent DePaul Society, prison ministry and the Lorain County Chapter AA. He enjoyed editing and watching movies, traveling and family events, cooking and was dedicated to helping others.

Survivors include daughters, Sharron Walker of Cleveland, Nancy Fisk of Elyria, Susan Walker of Garfield Hts., Amy Walker of Elyria, Jennifer Walker of N. Ridgeville; sons, Wayne of Cleveland, John and Phillip both of N. Ridgeville, Dennis of Cleveland; seven grandchildren; sisters, Sylvia Ciereszewski and Patricia Krajewski both of Cleveland.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Helen Walker.

SCOTT M. CASCONE

Scott M. aka “Cochise” Cascone, age 45, of North Ridgeville, passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2008, at University Hospital, Cleveland, following a brief illness.

Born in Cleveland, he was a resident of N. Ridgeville since 1994 moving from Bedford Hts. He worked as a shipping and receiving coordinator for Majestic Steel USA in Bedford Hts. For 15 years.

Scott enjoyed fast motorcycles, muscle cars and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife Jackie (nee Koval); daughters Angela, Carly, Gina and son, Joseph Cascone all of N. Ridgeville; mother, Salena Mowafy of Solon; father, Anthony and step-mother Judy Cascone of Aurora; brother, Jamie of Newbury; several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

RUTH A. POLICY

Ruth A. Policy (nee Kunzen), age 90, of Elyria and formerly N. Ridgeville, passed away Monday, March 31, 2008 at Wesleyan Village, Elyria, following a long illness.

She was born in Cleveland, and had been a resident of Elyria since 2002 moving from North Ridgeville, where she had lived for 53 years.

Mrs. Policy worked as a cook for Eddy’s Chalet West and the Green Parrot restaurants in North Ridgeville for many years, retiring in 1979.

She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, North Ridgeville and former member of St. Peter Mothers Club. Ruth enjoyed painting, ceramics and gardening.

Survivors include son, Gerald R. (Faye) Policy of Springfield, Ohio; daughters, Diane (Mark) Scholtz of Elyria, Joanne (Ed) Lagania of N. Royalton, Colleen Scholtz of Elyria; twelve grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; brothers, Paul Kunzen of Columbus, Donald Kunzen of N. Ridgeville; and sister, Carol Sharp of Wellington.

She was preceded in death by husband, Frederick Policy in 1992; parents, Edward and Florence Kunzen and brother, Harold Kunzen.
