JOY SUSAN SNYDER
Lorain- Joy Susan Snyder (nee: Midili), 74, passed away Monday, April 13, 2009 at New Life Hospice of St. Joseph.
Joy was born May 5, 1934 in Carneige, PA, a daughter of Jack and Mae Midili.
Joy, a loving mother, caring and devout friend was a member of St. Anthony of Padua. She graduated from Lorain High School. She retired from the city of Lorain in 1995 where she worked in the Office of the Mayor since 1980. She volunteered for Hospice of St. Joseph. Her hobbies included crocheting, walking and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters, Vicki Simone of Clare, Michigan, Sharon Snyder-Wright of Peachtree City, Georgia, Jaye (Anthony) Ceja of Oberlin, Ohio, and Lori (Dave) Garcia of Lorain, Ohio; her companion of 25 years, Walter R. Hoffman; 12 grandchildren, US Navy Lt. JG Dominic (Donna) Simone, Danielle (Chris) Blain, Aaron Wright, Morgan Wright, Christian Wright, Lauren Ceja, Leigh Ceja, Paul Ceja, Kimberly Ceja, Jamie (Nick) Dodson, US Navy FR Cory Garcia and Alexis Garcia; 2 great grandchildren, Nathan Dodson and Bianca Blain; brother, Anthony Midili of Arizona; and foster mother Elizabeth Kanzius of Lorain, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her husband James Snyder in 1979, her mother, Mary Mae (nee: Pcsolinski) Midili in 1940; her father, Jack Midili in 2003; and great grand-daughter Briana Lynn Blain in 2008.
The family will receive friends at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home, 2150 Broadway, Lorain, OH (440) 244-1961 on Thursday, April 16, 2009 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Prayers will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 8:50 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 AM on Friday, April 17, 2009 at St. Anthony of Padua, 1305 East Erie Avenue, Lorain, OH, Fr. Joseph West, O.F.M. Conv., Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.

To the family of Joy Snyder. I was very saddened to hear that Joy had passed away. She was my Secretary until her retirement in 1995. I will always remember her feisty spirit and the valuable knowledge and assistance she brought to all of us at City Hall. My prayers and condolences are with you and I sincerely share in your loss.
