PAUL D. WHITE

Paul D. White, 78, passed away Thursday, June 19, 2008 at his sister’s home in Sunbury, OH after a long illness.

Paul was born March 17, 1930 in Logan, West Vriginia, son of Ray & Julia (nee: Adams) White (both deceased). He was raised and educated in Logan, WV and later worked in the coal mines before moving to Sunbury, OH where he worked at Galena Brickyard. In 1951 Paul enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. On March 5, 1955 he married his wife Thelma “Cookie”. Paul moved with his family to Lorain in 1959 and worked at Ford as a relief man for 31 years. He retired in April 1990 and moved to Port St. Joe, Florida with his wife.

Paul was a member of Knights of St. John, Lorain; Veterans of Foreign Wars, Sunbury; and Fraternal Order of Eagles, Sunbury. He was a collector of baseball cards, coins and had a passion for his stamp collection. He also enjoyed playing cards and loved to play poker and gin.

He is survived by his son, Ernie D. (Kim) White of Lorain; three daughters, Paulia (Fred) Hunter of Port St. Joe, Florida, Gail Skodny of Lorain, and Wendy (John) Murnan of Lorain; 12 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; sister, Jewel (Dale) Layton; three brothers, Junior (Juanita) White, Guy (Sue) White and Buford (Patty) White; mother-in-law, Helen Smith; four sister-in-laws Norma Hall (Frank-deceased), Marie Jones, Rosemary McDonald and Mildred Berry; and two brother-in-laws Joe and Bill Smith.

He was preceded in death by his wife Thelma N. (nee: Smith) who passed away on June 16, 2005 after 50 years of marriage; his parents Ray Luther & Julia (nee: Adams) White; twin brother, Billy White; sister Patty (Ray) Smith; and son-in-law Robert Varner.

The family will receive friends at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home, 2150 Broadway, Lorain on Wednesday, June 25, 2008 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Funeral Services will be 1 PM, Thursday, June 26, 2008 at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home, Rev. Roland Presley and Rev. Billy White Jr., con-celebrating. Burial will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp. with military honors provided by American Legion Post 30 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 451, Lorain.
