FRANCES V. KERLIN

Oberlin- Frances V. Kerlin (nee: Kostelac), 92, passed away at EMH in Elyria following a brief illness.

Frances was born on November 17, 1917 in Versailles, PA and moved to Lorain in 1945. She resided in Welcome Nursing Home in Oberlin since 2007. Frances worked for Wayne Cleaners on West 20th Street in Lorain as a Presser and retired in 1983. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Lorain and was involved in the Ladies Guild. While living at Welcome Nursing Home, she enjoyed playing bingo, enjoyed all outing activities and was a member of the Red Hat Club. Frances enjoyed cooking, baking and spending time with her family and friends. She was a loving wife and mother.

She is survived by four daughters, Charlotte Murry of Elyria, Carol (Dan) Detar of Oklahoma, Frances (Bernard) Polasky of Sheffield Lake, Debra (John) Lacey of Lorain; two sons, Andrew (Linda) Kerlin of Oklahoma and William (Brenda) Kerlin of LaGrange; 24 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; and many great-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Kerlin in 1983; her parents, George and Mary Kostelac; her sister, Millie Guslevich.

The family will receive friends at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home, 2150 Broadway, Lorain, (440) 244-1961 on Friday, November 27, 2009 from 9:00 AM until time of closing prayers at 11:00 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 AM, Friday, November 27, 2009 at St. Mary’s Church, 310 8th Street, Lorain, Fr. Chuck Henkle, O.F.M. Conv., officiating. Interment Calvary Cemetery, Lorain. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.

JOSEPH JEROME CARRAO

Lorain- Joseph Jerome Corrao, 80, passed away on Friday, November 20, 2009 at New Life Hospice
of St. Joseph.

Joseph was born on July 1, 1929 in Lorain, OH where he was a life-long resident. He graduated from St. Mary’s Academy class of 1948. He was a member and choir member of St. Peter Church in Lorain. Joseph was also a member of Knights of St. John, Golden Crescent Chorus, Barbershop Harmony Society and a social member of the I.A.V. Post #1. Joseph worked as a child at the Lorain Morning Journal delivering newspapers and later he was employed with the Journal as a pressman for 43 years, retiring on July 1, 1991. Joseph had a great sense of humor and zest for life. He enjoyed singing for 51 years with his friends in the Barbershop Harmony Society, gardening, sports, traveling and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years of marriage, Dena (nee: DeAngelis) Corrao of Lorain; son, Joseph (Annette) of Lorain; daughters, Diane (Larry) Flock of Amherst, Angela Corrao of Lorain; and Janet Jasinski of Vermilion; grandchildren, Anthony and Allison Flock and Sarah and Jerry Jasinski III; and sisters, Marie (Raymond) Edwards of Elyria and Patricia (Richard) Strickler of Lorain.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Angelo “Babe” and Anna (nee: Mishak) Corrao.

The family will receive friends at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home, 2150 Broadway, Lorain, (440) 244-1961 on Sunday, November 22, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.

The Golden Crescent Chorus will sing final farewells on Sunday around 7:30 PM followed by a Vigil Service. Prayers will be held at the funeral home Monday at 9:20 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 AM, Monday, November 23, 2009 at St. Peter Church, 3655 Oberlin Ave., Lorain, Fr. Chuck Henkle, O.F.M. Conv., officiating. Interment Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
