ROBERT T. WEBER

Robert T. Weber, 88, passed away on Wednesday, January 07, 2009 at Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Avon.

Mr. Weber was born on January 6, 1921 in Lorain, a son of William and Margaret (nee: Dolski) Weber. He was raised and resided in Lorain.

He was a member of St. Peter Church in Lorain. Mr. Weber graduated from St. Mary’s Academy, Class of 1939. He was a three-year veteran of the United States Army, 35th Infantry, serving in WWII as a wireman and infantry man. He worked at U.S. Steel for 42 years in warehouse and shipping retiring in 1982 as a dispatcher.

Mr. Weber is survived by his brother, Richard Weber of Lorain; Helene’s sister, Jean O’Keefe; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 55 years, Helene Barbara (nee: Cyprus) Weber, whom he married on July 30, 1943, passed away June 12, 1998; and loving daughter, Cynthia Weber, passed away on April 28, 1990;

Mr. Weber is also preceded in death by his parents, William J. and Margaret Weber; two brothers, James and Edward Weber; two sisters, Delores Weber and Geraldine Hamilton; Helene’s parents, John and Elizabeth Cyprus; and Helene’s brother, Richard Cyprus.

The family will receive friends at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home, 2150 Broadway, Lorain, (440) 244-1961 on Friday, January 9, 2009 from 5-7 PM. Funeral Services will be held 10 AM, Saturday, January 10, 2009 at the funeral home, Fr. Ken Wolnowski, Pastor of St. Peter Church. Interment Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp.

MARSHA A. VRABEL

Marsha A. Vrabel (nee: Schwarz), 57, passed away on Monday, January 5, 2009 at Elyria Memorial Hospital.

Marsha was born March 30, 1951 in Lorain, a daughter of Otto P. and Almeda R. (Holl) Schwarz. She was raised in Lorain and moved to Elyria in 1976.

She was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Church in Elyria and was a homemaker and devoted her life to her children and their interests. Marsha loved baking and enjoyed gardening. She graduated from Admiral King High School in 1969. On July 11, 1970 she married her husband, Robert and raised three children together.

Marsha is survived by her devoted husband of 38 years, Robert Vrabel; three loving children, two sons, Robert J. and wife Wendy, Brian P. and wife Chrystal, and daughter, Jennifer R. Vrabel; two cherished grandchildren, Tyler D. and Madilynn R. Vrabel; dear sister, Jean M. Fitch; and dear brother, Otto A. and wife Patricia Schwarz; she is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by an infant sister, Marion Schwarz; and two brothers, Bernard J. and John R. Schwarz.

The family will receive friends at Reidy-Scanalan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home, 2150 Broadway, Lorain, (440) 244-1961 on Thursday, January 8, 2009 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. There will be a prayer service on Friday, 10:20 AM at the funeral home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 AM, Friday, January 9, 2009 at St. Vincent DePaul Church, 41295 N. Ridge Rd., Elyria, Fr. Timothy Gareau, officiating and Fr. George Vrabel, concelebrant. Interment Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.

ANNA CHARLTON

Anna Charlton (nee Rusnak) age 93 of Elyria died Monday, January 5, 2009 at her home following a long illness.

She was born February 22, 1915 in Wendel, WV. She had resided in Elyria the past 30 years having moved from North Ridgeville.She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and enjoyed flower gardening, working outside and spending time with her grandchildren.Mrs. Charlton had worked in the Janitorial Dept. For N. Ridgeville City Schools in the 1960's and 70's.

Surviving are 5 Sons, John Mathew (Dolly) Charlton Jr. of Elyria, Robert Lee (Nancy) Charlton of Clarksville, TN, Louis E. (Shelby) Charlton of Grafton, Ronald Lee (Rita) Charlton of Columbus, Donald Ray (Patricia) Charlton of Amherst; 3 daughters, Brenda Charlton of Elyria, Patty (George) Slawson of Elyria, Linda Charlton of Elyria; 19 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, brother, Paul (Marian) Rusnak, of RI; 2 Sisters, Veronica Kobak and Pauline Hartas, both of PA.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Mathew Charlton, Parents, Michael and Veronica Rusnak, grandsons, James John and Ronald Lee Charlton, brothers, John, Michael Rusnak, sisters, Mary Surback and Elizabeth Woskobunik.

Friends will be received 2-4 and 7-9PM Thursday, January 8 at the David Bogner Family Funeral Home 36625 Center Ridge Rd North Ridgeville.

A prayer service will be held 9:30 AM Friday in the funeral home followed by 10 AM Mass at St. Peter Church. Rev. Stephen Kaminski, Pastor will be the celebrant.

Interment will follow in the Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.

ELMER J. PALONEY

Elmer J. Paloney, age 81, of Eaton Township died Monday, January 5, 2009 at Center Ridge Health Campus following a long battle with Cancer.

He was born July 11, 1927 in Cleveland. He had resided in Eaton Township since 1955.

Mr. Paloney was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, the UAW Local 1250 and the VFW Post 9871. He worked as a Mill Wright at Ford Motor Company Brookpark Engine Plant # 2, retiring in 1991 after 20 years. Mr. Paloney served in the US Navy Sea Bees during WW II.

He enjoyed golfing, bowling with the VFW League and playing games of chance.Surviving his of 61 years Elizabeth (nee Forgas) daughter, Elizabeth (Roy) Miller of Elyria; 3 Sons, Paul (Priscilla) of Columbia Station, David, of Wellington and Jeffrey Paloney of Columbia Station, 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Paul (Nancy) of N. Olmsted and Ernest (Nancy) Paloney of Cleveland; Sister, Irene Petrensic of Cleveland.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Dora; brother, Wallace and sister, Alice Paloney.

Friends will be received 5-8pm, Thursday, January 8 at the David Bogner Family Funeral Home 36625 Center Ridge Rd. N. Ridgeville and from 9:15 AM until time of services at 10 AM Friday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church 25777 Royalton Rd. Columbia Station. Rev. Charles Ryba Pastor will be the celebrant.

Interment will follow in the Royalton Road Cemetery where the VFW Post 9871 will conduct full military honors.

BERNADINE "BIRDIE" JALOWIEC

Bernadine C. "Birdie" Jalowiec (nee Diederich), age 84 of North Ridgeville, passed away Sunday, January 4, 2009 at EMH Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.

She was born February 5, 1924 in North Ridgeville and was a life long resident. She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, and the Elyria Senior Citizens. Mrs. Jalowiec worked in the cafeteria of North Ridgeville High School for 20 years retiring in 1989.

Her hobbies included camping, bird watching, and spending time with her family. She was a life long Cleveland Indians Fan had played in a traveling women's Softball League during WWII and was a member of the Y.M.N.O. Card Club.

Surviving are husband, Roman, 2 Sons, James ( Louise) of Elyria and Gary Jalowiec of North Ridgeville; 3 daughters, Sandra (David) Doering of Elyria, Linda (Steven) Patalon of Sullivan, Julie (Thomas) Noble of Elyria; , fourteen grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren, 2 Sisters, Lois Kern of Ft. Meyers, Anne Ackerman of North Ridgeville.

She was preceded in death by her Parents, William and Julia (nee Gerhart) Diederich, 3 brothers Leonard, Raymond and Bernard Diederich, and 5 sisters Verena Meyers, Genevieve Smith, Alberta Wysocky, Martina Ternes and Alma Mahle.

A Memorial Service will be held 5 PM Wednesday at David Bogner Family Funeral Home 36625 Center Ridge Road North Ridgeville.

HARRIS CALLAHAN

Harris Callahan, 88, passed away Thursday, January 01, 2009 at Metro Health Medical Center.

Harris was born Sunday, August 8, 1920 in Lorain, OH by his loving parents, Louis and Rose (nee: Kelly) Callahan. He graduated from Lorain High School, class of 1936A. Harris met his beloved wife Ruth E. (nee:Maxwell) and was married on November 26, 1942. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1944. Harris was employed by U.S. Steel for 43 years as a Maintenance Foreman/Stationary Engineer, retiring in 1983. While working at U.S. Steel, he also worked for 16 years at Lorain Products in the stockroom. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church, Lorain where he was also a member of the Holy Name Society. Harris was active with Senior Fellowship, Lorain. He also enjoyed golfing, bowling and especially tending to his roses in his garden.

Harris survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Ruth E. Callahan; seven children, Thomas Callahan (Janet) of Roswell, Georgia, Ruth A. Callahan of Tucker, Georgia, Terrence Callahan (Judy) of Lorain, Timothy Callahan of Seattle, Washington, Stanley Callahan (Vicki) of Lorain, Paul Callahan Sr. (Anne) of Amherst, and Eileen Callahan-Smath (Jerry) of Lorain; 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his five brothers, Stanley, William, Richard, Robert and Terrence Callahan; infant son, Stanley Callahan; daughter, Carolyn Callahan; and infant grandson Riley Harris Smath.

The family will receive friends at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home, 2150 Broadway, Lorain, (440) 244-1961 on Monday, January 5, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 9:20 AM.
